వశిస్టుని మునిమనుమడు శక్తి యొక్క మనుమడు, పరాశరుని పుత్రుడు మరియు శుకుని పిత అయిన ఓ వ్యాసా, అమిత తపొబలం కలిగి, కల్మషం లేని నీకు ఇవే మా వందనములు.
వివరణ:
విష్ణు సహస్ర నామం మహాభారతంలోని అనుశాసనిక పర్వం 149వ అధ్యాయంలో వున్నది. ఇంతటి మహాగ్రంథాన్ని మనకి అందించిన మహానుభావుడు వేదవ్యాసుడు. అతన్ని స్మరించకుండా సహస్ర నామాలు జపించడం కృతఘ్నత అవుతుంది. మనకి మేలు చేసిన వారిని తలుచుకోవడం, వారికి కృతజ్ఞత తెలుపుకోవడం సనాతన ధర్మంలో మన పూర్వీకులు మనకి అందించిన ఒక గొప్ప వరం. కాబట్టి ఇంత గొప్ప గ్రంథాన్ని మనకందించిన వ్యాసుల వారిని, వారి పూర్వీకులను మనం తప్పకుండా స్మరించాలి.
Vyaasam Vasistanapthaaram Sakthe pouthramakalmasham |
Parasaaraathmajam vande Sukathaatham taponidhim ||
Meaning:
O great grandson of Vasistha, O grandson of Sakthi the one without any faults, O son of Paraasaraa and father of Suka, we salute you, the one who is a treasure of knowledge.
Explanation:
Vishnu Sahasra Namam belongs to the 149th chapter of Anusasanika parva (section) of Mahabhaaratha. Vyasa composed Mahabhaaratha. We are being ungrateful if we just chant Vishnu Sahasra Namam without paying tribute to the great Vyasa. Paying respects and being grateful to our elders is an important part of Sanathana Dharma. It teaches us to be powerful yet humble.
So, let us remember Vyasaa, his ancestors and his lineage prior to reaping the benefits of Sahasra Namam.
