Prasanna vadanam dhyaayeth sarva vighnopasaanthayeth

శుక్లాంబరధరం విష్ణుం శశివర్ణం చతుర్భుజం |

ప్రసన్న వదనం ధ్యాయెత్ సర్వ విఘ్నోపశాంతయేత్ ||

తాత్పర్యం:

తెల్లని వస్త్రములు ధరించినవాడు విష్ణువు. చంద్రుని వర్చస్సు కలవాడు నాలుగు చేతులవాడు.

ప్రసన్న వదనం కల విష్ణువుని ధ్యానిద్దాం అన్ని అడ్డంకులు తొలగిపోవును.

వివరణ:

ఏ పని అయినా నిర్విఘంగా జరగాలంటే స్థిరమైన మనస్సు ముఖ్యం. స్థిరమైన మనస్సు ధ్యానం చేసినప్పుడే లభిస్థుంది. ధ్యానానికి ఒక మూలం కావాలి. అందుకే ఆ మూలానికి ఒక రూపం ఇచ్చి మనస్సుని ప్రశాంత పరిచే విధంగా వివరించారు వ్యాసులవారు.

Suklaambaradharam Vishnum Sasivarnam Chathurbhujam |

Prasanna vadanam dhyaayeth sarva vighnopasaanthayeth ||

Meaning:

Let us meditate on Lord Vishnu who wears white clothes and has four hands. He has the bright and peaceful appearance of the moon. Meditate on Him and all obstacles will be removed.

Explanation:

We need a stable mind in order to accomplish anything. A Stable mind can only be obtained through meditation. We need an object of reference in order to meditate properly. For this reason, our ancestors gave a pleasant appearance to the Object of reference adorned in white clothes with a pleasant and peaceful appearance and four hands which depict both power and protection. All this combined give a meditator an object of reference that is easy and also powerful to meditate on. If we meditate with such an object of reference, every task that is set about will be accomplished without any obstacles.
